Western water law is important for conservation staff working on land and water conservation to understand. This four-hour workshop will be taught by water attorney Aaron Clay, who will focus on the basics of water law and how water intersects with land conservation.
Aaron Clay was the Water Referee for Colorado Water Court, Division 4 (Gunnison, Uncompahgre, and San Miguel River Basins) from 1982 to 2008. Among his clients are Tri-County Water Conservancy District, Grand Mesa Water Conservancy District, North Fork Water Conservancy District, Grand Mesa Water Users Association, and numerous other ditch companies and water users. Additionally, Aaron has served on several land trust boards.
This is an in-person class* and is free to attend for Keep It Colorado members and $40 for general registration. Class size is limited to 50.
Hard copies of Citizens Guide to Colorado Water Law will be provided to in-person participants. A digital version is available online here. Participants will also receive a "Student Book".
