Webinar: Strategizing Landscape Conservation over Space and Time

With habitat loss as the leading cause of rapid biodiversity loss, land conservation is one of the most crucial parts of conservation practices. Some of the popular methods for land conservation are land acquisition and easements for nature reserves, and to make efficient land acquisitions or easements, organizations must consider variables like species richness, habitat suitability, land cost, and the threat of development that vary through space and time.

In this presentation, Hyun Yoon, graduate student at University of Tennessee, Knoxville will discuss the temporal and spatial strategies in land acquisition by comparing real-world temporal acquisition patterns and analyzing the shortcomings of assumptions in common acquisition planning models. Hyun will talk about the implications of the results from these two studies on land conservation practices and share the commonality between temporal and spatial reserve planning strategies.

This webinar is free to members and will also be recorded and added to our Resource Library in our member portal.
